I am in LOVE! Planetside, makers of Terragen are revealing the next generation of their fractal-based terrain generator. The original never even made it to 1.0, but was already a Bryce-killer with its lovely atmospherics and planet-wide scalability.

Terragen2 technology preview provides a sneak peek at volumetric clouds, the ability to import 3D models, and a random distribution system to populate worlds with imported trees, animals, or rubble.
