I am in LOVE! Planetside, makers of Terragen are revealing the next generation of their fractal-based terrain generator. The original never even made it to 1.0, but was already a Bryce-killer with its lovely atmospherics and planet-wide scalability.

Terragen2 technology preview provides a sneak peek at volumetric clouds, the ability to import 3D models, and a random distribution system to populate worlds with imported trees, animals, or rubble. The new tabbed interface is a welcome addition. Terragen2 technology preview is a free download for Windows and osX.4.

I only had a few hours in Miami Beach, and my deco safari was cut short by rain and cold weather. Still got a chance to snap a few photos.

Rounded corners, box windows, and repeating horizontal ledges create the distinctive art deco shapes. Surface treatments include mythological, geometric, and floral reliefs. Bilateral symmetry is the norm, but there are a few exceptions.
